SkyEurope, the Slovakian based low-cost carrier is to axe
it's popular route from Bratislava to Cork. The flight operates three
times weekly on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, and was reported to have
had high load factors on the route. The last flight will be on Saturday,
October 25th next. The airline is also ceasing services to Dublin and

TNT cease flights from Cork,
18/07/08
TNT recently ceased it's daily Cork cargo flight, and
moved operations to Shannon. The flight had operated in to Cork from
Liege each weekday morning at 0730, and departed each evening to Liege,
via Shannon, at 1930 with a BAe 146-300QT. Allegedly the move resulted
from escalating costs, and the cost of operating the flight between Cork
and Shannon each day was too high. TNT still retain their warehouse at
Cork Airport, and freight is now transported by road to Shannon. C-S

Aer Lingus announces
winter schedule 2008/09 from Cork, 22/05/08
Aer Lingus today announced its winter schedule for
2008/09 from Cork Airport with the addition of a new service from Cork
to Geneva. This brings to 18 the number of routes operated by the
airline from Cork.
A new service from Cork to Geneva will commence on December 2nd and will
operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Flights depart Cork at 0710 and
arrive in Geneva at 1015. The return leg departs at 1055 and arrives
back in Cork at 1220.
Flights to Faro will be extended beyond the summer schedule, operating
until the end of November. The airline currently has a fleet of three
Airbus A320s and one A321 based in Cork, with a staff of 270.
Commenting on the announcement, Enda Corneille, Corporate Affairs
Director, said, "Today's announcement demonstrates our continued
commitment to the Cork region & the South of Ireland. We are delighted
to extend our offering, giving customers greater choice of destination,
quality service and creating new links in inbound tourism all of which
is enhancing our customer base from Cork."

Wizz Air launches new flights from Warsaw to
Cork, 20/05/08
Wizz Air announced today that it would start new flights from Warsaw to
Cork Airport. This route will become the carrier’s third Polish route
from Cork after Katowice and Gdansk.
The first flight between Warsaw and Cork will take off on 13 July 2008
and will be operated twice a week initially on Thursday and Sunday.
Flights depart Warsaw at 0540 and arrive in Cork at 0745. Flights depart
Cork at 0815 and arrive in Warsaw at 1215. Add one hour for all times on
Sunday.
Tickets for the flights are already on sale on the airline’s website,
wizzair.com or by calling the Wizz Air call centre on 0871 781 1096 (in
Ireland) or 0300 50 30 10 (in Poland).
This is very welcome news after both Aer Lingus and Central Wings axed
the route from Cork in recent times.C-S
